Russia is a militarily powerful nation. No nation has the power or ability to invade Russia. There is no rational reason to justify a Russian invasion of the Ukraine.
Humankind faces serious threats to its existence. We are destroying and poisoning our environment, yet we waste enormous effort, time, money and resources on weapons, armies and the pursuit of war.
Nuclear weapons have not receded as a major threat to the future of humankind. Instead of reducing this threat, it has escalated. If Russia and the United States go to war, it will be suicide for the entire world, not only suicide for Russia and the United States. Nuclear weapons are proliferating. The more they spread, the greater the likelihood that some dictator or lunatic will explode one in order to rain terror on civilians and the world.
The nuclear arms race escalation is beyond insane. Huge sums of money and resources are spent on the pursuit of insanity. The cancers, deaths and deformities caused by past nuclear weapon explosions and accidents should be part of the education of every child or teenager so that new generations do not underestimate the horrors of nuclear weapons.
Russian troops are gathered at the border of Ukraine. The people of Ukraine and also Russians must not be forced to suffer because of the desires of Putin and the failures of the west and Russia to reach agreements regarding NATO and other matters. Parts of the Ukraine are already suffering from a war that has gone on for far too long.
If Russia invades the Ukraine, it will be an unrecoverable blow to sanity and everything decent in this world.
