Norman Finklestein defends murder and other atrocities against defenseless civiilians as long as they are committed against Israelis. Murdering civilians and committing other atrocities are resistance, not the grave evils for which they are, in the eyes of those that need a target to demonize and dehumanize.
He has made a career out of demonizing Israelis. It has opened doors for him in a world full of hatred against Jews and Israelis that would otherwise be closed if it were not Jews or Israelis that served as his target. His parents were Jewish and are survivors of Hitler's extermination, things that he never experienced but that he exploits to legitamize his hatred of Israelis by virtue of his parent's experience.
He, as a new York born and bred man raised in a country of priveldege, has no understanding of the experience of the vast majority of israelis that he demonizes. These are the Jews and their descendents from Arab and Muslim majority lands. These Jews know firsthand the hatreds, persecutions and genocidal intent of those that seek to destroy their small nation, the only place on earth where Jews form the majority population and have the means of defending themselves from their many enemies.
if the target of Finklestein's animosity and demonizing were not Israelis, no one in this day and age of politicsl correctness on the left would accept a white man demonizing the brown and black skinned Jews of Israel.
As if the depths of the depravity of the anti-Israel crowd could not sink any lower, it goes even lower.
The October 7, 2023 mass murdering, sexual abusing, kidnapping and other atrocities committed against defenseless Israelis of all ages, including children, babies, women, the elderly, is defended and even celebrated.
Murdering civilians is not resistance, no matter how it is framed. It is a grave evil that no one in their right mind and with at least the minimum shred of decency and integrity would defend.
The denial of the sexual abuse and rape that took place on October 7 by Finklestein requires its own soon separate response.
ned cultural codes of honor and modesty. While killings are integrated into a narrative of martyrdom and warfare, sexual abuse is viewed as dishonorable and morally corrupting, making it unacceptable to broadcast or celebrate publicly within the community.
