Plastic Pollution Disaster: Opportunity To Employ Disadvantaged People To Remove Plastic Trash

There is massive poverty in the world. There is a massive amount of plastic pollution. The cleanup portion of the plastic pollution disaster must vastly expand from volunteerism into large scale employment, in which disadvantaged people the world over are employed to cleanup coastlines and other areas from plastic pollution. In many places, people desperately need work and cannot afford to be volunteers. Plastic pollution needs to be removed from coastlines and other areas. Employing disadvantaged people to remove plastic pollution from coastlines and other areas fights poverty and plastic pollution at the same time. No serious problem can be adequately addressed on the cheap. Education is a serious need, so teachers are hired, supplemented at times by volunteers. No one expects education or healthcare needs to be addressed by volunteers.
Most plastic pollution: food wrappers, sachets, packaging materials, bags, personal care items, Styrofoam and so forth, have no value. All of it must be removed. A model based on paying poor people only for recyclables they collect keeps them underpaid and ensures that the non recyclable materials are not properly removed.
A model based on volunteer labor does not work in countries where people desperately need work. It is short lived and ineffective.
Plastic pollution cleanups are labor intensive and tedious. Plastic pollution is an enormous opportunity for disadvantaged people to receive steady employment, and for the environment to be cleaned. There is so much plastic already in the environment. It needs to be removed before it breaks down further into unrecoverable particles and pieces. The trillions upon trillions of plastic trash pieces already in the oceans and waters of the world, with millions upon millions of pounds and kilos added every day, ensures decades upon decades of work for people in need.
Does the will to truly address poverty and plastic pollution exist? Will plastic pollution be yet anther serious problem talked about, exploited, and never properly addressed?  Plastic pollution is a rare opportunity for people in need to receive employment, and for the environment to be cleaned.
