Return To A Graduated Income Tax, Stop Turning The United States Into An Aristocracy

A taxation system that favors a tiny wealthy minority of the population, who already reap all of the benefits society has to offer, and none of its pains, is not sustainable. The United States once had a graduated tax system. The country did not collapse. It had a healthy middle class. The middle class has shrunk for a variety of reasons, but it did not help to create an aristocracy and oligarchy that favors the wealthiest few, and increasingly renders powerless the middle class.
A return to a graduated tax system is not socialism. It will not destroy the country. The country is already on an unsustainable path by spending far more than it takes in and by endlessly printing money.
It is impossible to continue to sustain a hugely expensive military, maintain other expensive obligations including education, social welfare, and not have the money to pay for it. We need to look for ways to cut the fat out of all these bloated bureaucracies. But we also need to change our tax system and stop pretending it is functional.
End loopholes and return to a graduated tax system. People have to start paying their fair share, and that includes the rich. The United States cannot continue to spend money it does not have. It cannot continue to be turned into an aristocracy.
